THE MIND OF A WARRIOR

We focus on real combat scenarios and go through tough training to prepare you for anything that might come your way. When facing real life threats, you need to know the skills that will help you survive and get home! The four main styles that make up the basis of our self-defence program: Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Silat.

KICKBOXING
- standing and striking
Learning to use our hands and feet as weapons, how to move our weight, keeping our balance and where to apply our force.
JIU JITSU
- ground and grappling
Learning how to subdue an opponent if taken to the ground, how to control their position, managing them through joint locks and chokes, understanding how to efficiently get back on your feet.
WRESTLING
- throws and trips
Manage our lifting power, toss our opponents and let gravity take care of the damage! We will also explore how to efficiently control our aggressor, using the mechanics of the body to increase our force potential.
SILAT/KALI
- weapons and knife class
Approach and manage someone with a weapon and the intent of using it. Learn how to use a weapon effectively and efficiently, understand when to run or stand your ground, explore the real dangers of blunt and sharp objects, practice coordination and timing with sticks.

ALEX KLESCHELSKY
Weapons trainer
Alex began training in martial arts during his college years. At that time he practiced boxing and Judo. After the military he tried his skills at kung fu and taekwondo. That is when his friend brought him to a Kyokushin Karate dojo. Being a full contact style, Kyokushin attracted Alex with its realistic approach to fighting. Through gruelling training one could quickly learn about his or her own body’s abilities – how much heat one can take – and find out which techniques are really effective in combat and which ones are not. Since then Alex never stopped training Kyokushin Karate, achieving a third degree Black Belt.

SASHA TADAYONI
Mixed Martial Arts
Sasha has been training as a martial artist for over 23 years and has been fighting competitively at the amateur, national, and international level for the last 13 years. He is well versed in various different arts such as: Kyokushin karate, boxing, Muay Thai, North American kickboxing, wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu. He has trained in several countries including Germany, Japan, Iran, Canada and the United States. He is a student of, and trained directly under Shihan Makoto Nakamura (two time world kyokushin Karate Champion) when he was only 19 years old.

SHELLA BERGEN
Kid's classes
Shella Bergen started karate since her teenage years. As a young lady, she was able to find confidence, strength, and focus through her training. Cruz has wrestled now for 10 years in collegiate (folkstyle) wrestling as well as the Olympic styles of Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling. Having recently completed his 4 years of competition eligibility as an NCAA varsity collegiate wrestler for Simon Fraser University up on Burnaby Mountain, Cruz still maintains and trains freestyle now and could never see himself departing from the sport. It is simply part of his passion.

Zaw Tun is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) purple belt, whose first introduction to the art was almost a decade ago, in a local MMA gym and has been training actively for the last 10 years. Through his journey in the sport, Zaw has had privilege of training with such esteemed masters such as Shane Rice (Rickson Gracie black belt), Todd Smith (Royce Gracie black belt) and Giacomo Zanini (Ribeiro black belt). Although Zaw tremendously enjoys the training and competitive aspects of BJJ, his true passion lies in teaching and breaking down the intricacies of grappling for students from all backgrounds and level of athletic activity.

SEIYU KIDS CLASS

A fun filled class that teaches kids all the etiquette and manners that comes with learning martial arts. Students will progress through belts, however achieving that black belt rank will require a great deal of training, patience and commitment.

OLYMPIC WRESTLING

Learn from a Canadian National competitor Cruz Valasquez, well-trained wrestlers, judo and jujitsu practitioners. 4 different associations, 3 styles, all coming together under one roof to further our progression in the combative arts and expand on self protection.

GROUND AND GRAPPLING

This class is based off of Brazilian jujitsu, Judo and Olympic wrestling. Learn how to manoeuvre, strike, grapple, control, break limbs and most important, get back up. We ask that all students come with a towel, long pants as well as a long sleeved shirt for training.

STANDING SELF PROTECTION

We focus on strikes and movement, turning our hands and feet into weapons we can use to defend against attack. Our primary purpose in this class is to ensure all strikes are done properly, utilizing weight distribution for power and explosiveness for speed and understanding how to activate our biggest asset, our body weights kinetic momentum for damage.

Mondays 6:30PM - 8:00PM / Saturdays (females only) 2:00PM - 3:00PM

Kali: Introduction to weapons

Kali (also known as Arnis or Escrima) is a form of Filipino martial arts. Through various drills with sticks and knives students will get better understanding of self-defence against blunt or edge weapon. This class is based to create a better awareness of the tactical advantage and dangers of such weaponry.

STANDING SELF PROTECTION

We get deeper into the variations of strikes, such as elbows, clinches, knee strikes, and sweeps and distance management as well multiple opponent scenarios. The point of this class to teach various ways that will lead to superiority in a standing conflict, learn how to be as effective as possible and where the striking should go in order to inflict vital damage.

Wednesdays 8:30PM - 10:00PM

FIGHTERS BOOTCAMP

A bootcamp dedicated to truly testing the limits of what your body can and can’t do! Our weekly goal is to challenge and strengthen ourselves in mind and spirit. This is a cardio intensive strength camp, be prepared to sweat and clean the buckets if you get sick!
