Zoorkhaneh

Zoorkhaneh: Persian Strength Training

At Modern Warrior Academy, we offer Zoorkhaneh (Persian strength training) designed for all skill levels – from newcomers learning foundational patterns to athletes building powerful shoulders, grip, rhythm, and coordination. Led by Coach Dariush, sessions use traditional tools like meel (Persian clubs), sheno push-up boards, and sang shields, performed to classic training rhythms for a uniquely challenging, full-body workout.

Why Zoorkhaneh Works

This system builds real-world functional strength through high-rep swinging, bracing, and rhythmic patterns. Expect stronger shoulders and core, better posture, improved range of motion, and serious grip strength—great cross-training for Boxing, Kickboxing, Grappling and Karate.

What You’ll Train

  • Meel (Persian clubs): shoulder strength, joint health, endurance and grip.
  • Sheno (push-up boards): dynamic push-ups for chest, core, and triceps.
  • Sang (shields): isometric strength, posture and bracing.
  • Rhythm & movement: flow patterns performed to traditional training music to improve timing and coordination.
